The Code Enforcement Office is responsible for the enforcing various quality of life ordinances in Hawthorne.

Building Dept/Construction Inspection
This office is responsible for the issuance of permits and performing inspections on building, electrical, fire, mechanical and plumbing work done in the Borough.

Finance
The Treasury is an internal accounting department that services all the departments of the Borough of Hawthorne.

The Borough's fire protection is provided by the five companies in the all-volunteer Hawthorne Fire Department.

Fire Prevention
Duties of the Fire Prevention Bureau consist of the enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code, inspecting all commercial buildings and tenants, schools, places of assembly and multi-family dwellings.
