Pool Membership Application Procedures & Fees

Membership to the pool is open to Hawthorne and North Haledon residents only.  

Starting in May you may renew your membership through the mail or at an evening walk-in registration at the municipal building (dates to be determined) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, or at the pool itself at any time the pool is open.  A mailed in application must include the fee (check or money order payable to the Borough of Hawthorne; no cash or credit cards).   Pool membership is for Hawthorne or North Haledon Residents only (except for caregivers). Supply any changes to your records with your renewal form. There will be a $50.00 fee for returned checks. DO NOT SEND IN YOUR BADGES. 


You are strongly encouraged to review and become familiar with Pool Rules prior to the start of the season. Pool rules are posted on our website.

2018 SEASON:
Pool opens on weekends beginning Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 26 through Memorial Day, Monday, May 28; weekend hours noon until 8 pm.  June 18, 19 and 20 the pool will be open from 3 pm until 8 pm; Pool officially opens regular hours for the season beginning Thursday, June 21.

Beginnning Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, August 12, regular pool hours will be observed 10 am to 8 pm; please note that from 10 am to 11 am, Monday through Friday is reserved for adult swim only.  

Monday, August 13 through Sunday, September 2, pool hours will be 11 am to 7 pm (adult swim will continue from 10 am to 11 am, Monday through Friday).

Closing Day is Labor Day, Monday, September 3, with pool hours of 11 am to 6 pm.

For the protection of members, the pool will close for inclement weather or whenever there is another health or safety concern.

Season membership is available to Hawthorne and North Haledon Residents ONLY.

In order to purchase season membership to the pool, you must complete the Application Form. The form will be available at Borough Hall in the Administrator's Office, DPW Office, and on the Borough's website. In addition, there will be an early application direct mailing to last year's membership list.

If you are a HOMEOWNER, enter the length of time at your address and your block and lot number where indicated on the application form. No other documentation of residency for family members will be necessary. However, the pool management reserves the right to require additional proof of residency for any member of a household listed as living at a given Hawthorne/North Haledon address.

If you are a TENANT, enter the length of time at your address and contact information for your landlord where indicated on the application form. In addition, new members will be required to substantiate residency for each family member listed on the application. Acceptable forms of proof of residency are as follows:

ADULTS (AGE 18+) - one of the following:

Current picture Driver's License with correct Hawthorne/North Haledon address or official DMV change of address sticker.

Copy of current lease or rental agreement or letter of affidavit from landlord (homeowner).

Current (within past two months) utility company (PSE&G, cable/satellite, telephone etc.) or credit card bills or bank statements with your name and address printed on the bill/statement.

MINORS (AGES 3-17) - one of the following:

Current lease or rental agreement with number of adults and children listed or an affidavit of residence from the landlord.

Student ID card or most recent report card from any Hawthorne/North Haledon school or other official document listing child's name and Hawthorne/North Haledon address.

Active Hawthorne Volunteer Firefighters or Ambulance Corps Members
Individual Members: Free; Reduction in Family pass=$90


  • Day passes are available for purchase by Hawthorne/North Haledon residents only. In order to purchase a one day pass, residents will be required to show proof of residency (see above) each time they purchase a one day pass.
  • Weekend Rates or Holiday: Resident, $20; Non-resident Guest: $20
  • Weekday Rates: Resident, $15; Non-resident Guest: $15
  • Ten Day Pass: $120
  • Hawthorne/North Haledon residents who purchase a day pass or any season member badge holder may purchase up to two (non-resident) guest passes for use on that day.
  • Residents purchasing guest passes must accompany and stay with their guests while in the pool enclosure.
  • Residents assume all responsibility for their guests' behavior and adherence to the rules while in the pool complex.
  • Day and guest passes are not refundable for cash. In the event that the pool must close for an emergency situation or health issue, a voucher will be issued to be used for a future visit. DAY AND GUEST PASSES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED FOR ANY TYPE OF WEATHER RELATED EVENT.
  • Special requests by season members for additional day/guest passes for reasons such as out of town visiting family members, babysitting grandchildren etc. or group events such as birthday parties must be made directly to the manager of the pool. The manager reserves the right to grant or deny special permission to use the pool enclosure in accordance with the needs and comfort of the season members.
  • Requests for any type of special arrangements must be made at least 1 week in advance in order to be considered by the management.
