2020 Road Program

The Borough of Hawthorne has announced its Road Program for 2020.  Streets to be repaved this year include Parmelee Avenue, Kingston Avenue, Warren Avenue, Garden Avenue, Barker Avenue and Little Street.

Borough funds will be used for milling and paving the roads themselves, and, where needed, the replacement of curb and installation of handicapped ramps at intersections. Property owners will be assessed the cost of replacing sidewalks and driveway aprons where their current conditions don’t meet code; individual letters will be sent to these property owners. Trees will be removed if they interfere with the construction of roads, curbs or sidewalks, with replacements planted within the next year or so.

Park Avenue and Cynthia Court will be bid as alternates on the contract, with work undertaken should prices come in at a level where there are sufficient funds.

Work will likely begin in May, 2020, and be completed over the summer.
