Fire Prevention

This office is responsible for enforcement of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code as it pertains to the general public in all matters relating to fire safety in and on all borough residential and commercial properties.  Penalties will be imposed if proper permits and inspections are not obtained.  (NJAC 5:70-1.1)

Housing Officer

The Fire Official also serves as the Borough’s Housing Officer who oversees the proper maintenance of dwellings so as to not pose a threat to the health, safety and welfare of the residents, nor the community in general. The New Jersey Housing Code is followed and enforced.  (NJAC 5:28-1.1)

Mobile Cooking Operations/Food Trucks 

All Food Trucks are required to obtain a permit and be inspected day of event.  Complete attached form.

Fees

All Fees are payable by check or money order made payable to The Borough of Hawthorne, or exact change.
