Passaic County

Hawthorne is one of 16 municipalities within Passaic County, New Jersey. The County government is responsible for maintenance of county roads and parks and a variety of other services.

The County Surrogate is in the Hawthorne municipal building 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. every fourth Tuesday from 5:30 to probate wills. For more information, contact the County Surrogate at 973-881-4760.

Satellite Office

Staff from the County Clerk's office operates a satellite office in the Hawthorne municipality periodically to provide the following services: processing passports, notary services, trade name registration, children's and veteran's identification cares. Park Maintenance

Passaic County owns and maintains Goffle Brook Park on Goffle Road within Hawthorne. For maintenance concerns, or to schedule use of the athletic fields, contact the County's Parks Department at 973-881-4832.
